48 Hour Book Challenge - Final Wrap-up

Ok - this is my final post for the Fourth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge. I didn't do as well as I'd hoped. I really wanted to read at least 10 books but I ended up only finishing 4! Maybe I'm not cut out for this type of thing? Or maybe I need to leave the house in-between books or try not to read one book at a time. I don't know, just not up to my normal reading self lately.

Final Numbers:
Books Completed - 4
Death Run by Jack Higgins
Wings by Jason Letchoe
Flightsend by Linda Newbery
Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Pages Read - 1,030
Add the books above plus
Flygirl by Sherri L. Smith - 32 p
Miracle Girls by Drayton and Vanderbilt - 17 p
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev - 76 p
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder - 60

Hours Spent - 22h 32m
Reading - 17h 32m
Networking - 3h
Reviewing - 2h

The good news is I will purchase four books for Color Online's Summer Book Drive. So I'm happy about that. Well, this was eye-opening - I can't just read in a row like the good old days...I need breaks, fresh-air, etc...weird! So my goal for next year will be 8 books and 36 hours. That should be easily doable with my normal rate of reading.

  1. Yay! KB, I'm thrilled you put a dent in your rdg list instead of just tossing up your hands & saying grrr :/.

  2. Great reading! I wasn't as speedy in my reading this time around, but it was fun to knock out some books from my list. Thanks for playing!

  4. wow! 17 hours reading! I'm very impressed - I could only find 9 hours in my weekend, and my family still thinks I'm crazy. Meeting new blogging friends was definitely a highlight for my weekend.

I share your feelings about needing to find the right sort of books to hook you for a reading challenge like this. I need a strong plot, with conflict and drama to pull me into late night, ignore all else reading.

I'm curious about Flygirl - it's on my TBR list. What were your first impressions like?

Congrats on your 17 hours - I hope you had fun playing!
