30-Day Challenge - February Week 1

In this, The yEAR oF mE, I will be working on something each month. Cultivating habits I can build on and continue. This month will be exercising! I have been so neglectful in this area. No more!

My goal is to walk 30-45 min. at least 6 days a week. I know, that sounds ambitious. Since my aDhD depends on routines to be controlled, those be the steps I need to take. Also, it must be done in the morning.
Even though I hate mornings!
I just can't do it when I come home. I'm hoping a side effect will be better sleep. We shall see.

So, this starts today. Yeah, today. But not yet. But I will, promise. Check back tomorrow for results.

30 - Day Challenge - Week 4

Goal: eating 5 fruits/vegetables daily.

This week was super terrible. My schedule was so erratic, some days I forgot to eat lunch and/or dinner! Hard time sleeping too. I think I had one good day - and that was last Monday!! Oh well.

I'm going to keep going with this. I will jump right back on the horse!

30 Day Challenge - Week 3

Goal - Eat more veggies/fruit especially veggies

I had a really good week. My only bad day was Tuesday. I was pretty much glued to the inauguration and didn't stay on my schedule. The rest of the days were pretty awesome. Eating more fruits and vegetables actually make me eat less of the bad stuff (I usually snack on chocolate!). I just hope I can keep this up. It's slightly more expensive to have the good stuff!

I have incorporated a salad into dinner every night and my daughter and I both enjoy that!

6 Good days!!!

30 Day Challenge Weekly Check In

Goal: 5 or more fruits and veggies per day.
Week - January 12 - January 18

This week was the hardest. We had two snow/cold days on Thursday and Friday, so no school. Also, eating more fruits/veggies has side effects I had not anticipated. I was fine until Friday when I became a little stir crazy and bored and didn't want to eat the same selections ONE MORE DAY! I ended up only having one fruit that day but ventured out in the cold weather and bought more fruit to add to the mix.

All in all: 5 good days - 2 bad.

30 Day Challenge - Week 1

This week I did pretty well on my challenge. My goal is to increase my intake of fruits/veggies from 2 per day to 5 per day. I've included fruit for breakfast, midmorning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. That leaves a veggie for dinner. I hope to include one serving of veggies with my lunch to add some variety and additional color this coming week.

The 30 Day Challenge

Each year HipWriterMama does a 30 challenge to help all of us kick off the New Year in style. You decide on a goal and you check in with her weekly. In this Year of Me, I want to eat more fruits and vegetables. I normally have fruit with breakfast and some veggie with dinner and that's it...two servings. Experts recommend 5 - 9 servings.

My goal is to each at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables. I'm going to do this buy adding fruit to my lunch, and snacking on fruit instead of chocolate! I can see this will have many benefits! Since I have breakfast at 6:30 and lunch at 12:15, I can use a mid morning snack and then I'm usually home by 5:30 or 6:00 which leaves time for a late afternoon snack.

This first week I bought some single serving packs of craisins, some apples and bananas, and I always eat fruit with breakfast. I just need to decide how to incorporate more veggies.

I'm working on it. Any ideas?

30 Day Challenge Check In

Not a great week on the workout front. I worked out for 1 day. It has been a stress-filled busy week...all the more reason to work out, of course. But I did today and I made a new plan and even put it in my plan book so I think this will work out. My new plan is to work out two days aerobics, one day of strength, two days of aerobics, one day of strength, and then one day off. I can do that. The strength day will feel like a break. Yeah, that's a good plan.

30 Day Challenge Check In

All right, week 2! Well I didn't make six workouts but I made 4. I doubled from last week. I got my new tapes from Collage Video. So much fun and pain! This week I will incorporate a dance video. I've only lost 3 pounds so far but I've gained muscles! I can see them! We are only using the resistance band and 3-pound dumb-bells (or at least that's all I'm using!). I've eaten more fruit this week. Ok, gotta get some sleep.

30 Day Challenge Check In

Today is the first check-in day for HipWriterMama's 30-day Challenge. I've worked out 3 of the last 5 days. My goal is at least 6 days a week. I've been doing Leslie Sansone's Kick/Walk tape and I just ordered myself some new tapes from Collage Video. I will let you know how they are. I've also found myself drinking more water, a great side habit! I feel great.

I've been entering my workouts at iVillage's Healthy Living site. It's nice to see that even a little bit helps. I hope it will serve to keep me motivated throughout this year.

30 Day Challenge

I did it! I joined HipWriterMama's 30-Day Challenge. I am on my way. I got up, thought about why I was getting up an hour early - and I actually worked out! This year I want to get back to working on my dream of owning a bookstore. I became a middle school Librarian so that I could determine if I enjoyed working with this age group and reading YA books, and well, YES I DO. As a matter of fact, I believe I want to do a bookstore that specializes in YA books and products. Any way...I decided to break things down and start pulling myself together and getting back on track. First step...Take care of myself better. I'm not getting any younger, although I probably act that way! Being healthy and in good shape will give me the stamina needed to work 20 hour days.

So for the next 30 days, I want to build the habit of working out into my schedule. Look for updates here and watch me make my dreams come true!

I need to send a shout-out to Robin Brande who had a link to HipWriterMama's blog (how can you NOT click on a link by someone called HipWriterMama?). Thanks for the chocolates Robin and keep writing!
